Derrick Angus is a native Jamaican who is an engineer by trade and an entrepreneur at heart. His big smile, warm heart, and passion for making sure everyone has a good time are just a few of the ingredients of his success.

Derricks dream began many years ago as a part-time catering operation. To this day that operation has grown tremendously and has brought the taste of Jamaica to a myriad of special events and exclusive parties for entities such as the African Market Place, Bob Marley Day Celebration, the Black Business Expo & Trade Show, the Pasadena Jazz Festival, the National Democratic Convention 2000, as well as special catered parties for NBC just to name a few. In response to demand for his product, six years ago, Derrick bottled his secret sauces-Derricks Tropical Barbecue Sauce and Derricks Tropical Marinade, which he supplies directly to Los Angeles Unified School District and other institutions. For Derrick, catering and providing his sauces were not enough. He wanted to step it up a notch and open a full service, upscale, fine dining restaurant serving authentic Jamaican food with a healthy twist. And so he opened the doors to what is now known as Derricks Jamaican Cuisine on February 2, 2002. While the menu items have expanded and been refined over the years, quality and flavor have remained consistent.

Derrick specializes in an array of seafood, steak, and chicken and features grilled salmon, shrimp, red snapper, lobster, catfish, and crab as well as fresh fruit juices and smoothies. Todays menu items are designed to bring you the highest in flavor while keeping you healthy. Derricks is highly involved with the American Heart Association, The American Diabetes Association, and is dedicated to improving the way we eat in the community.
